When you come to Chicago you want to experience authenticity of the culture and landscape. Doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been to Chicago, your first time, or even if you live here you must connect to the heritage and history.
Chicago has always been a racist northern city segregating it’s residents spiting it into a many cultural backgrounds that represent different sides.
The Bronzeville Visitor Information Center is an African American oriented community based institution, built from the “bottom-up”, that is respected for its sustained commitment to providing heritage tourism development initiatives in Bronzeville for the past decade!
Bronzeville Visitor Information Center (BVIC) currently offers a variety of guided tours of Bronzeville and the broader south lakefront region of Chicago. Our tours cost $35.00 per person for a two hour tour of Bronzeville on the Bronzeville Visitor Information Center’s interactive tour bus, which accommodates 14 passengers.
BVIC is currently working in a collaborative partnership with North Eastern Illinois University Center for Inner City Studies and the the African American Cultural Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago, on heritage tourism development programming, cultural exhibits and archival documentation. The current exhibit featured in our 2nd floor Bronzeville Visitor Information Center Exhibit Gallery, was installed by staff, student docents and community volunteers associated with the African American Cultural Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
